Based in Hackney Wick, JARR Kombucha is a microbrewery serving up stylish bottles of kombucha, a fermented tea drink championed by the health food world. Packed full of probiotics, antioxidants, vitamins, enzymes and amino acids, kombucha is about as impressive as a health drink gets, and JARR are part of the movement hoping to bring it into the mainstream within the UK. Last year they opened Europe’s first kombucha taproom creating a space where people could enjoy the drink within a bar setting. Everything is brewed, bottled, labelled, and packaged by hand and the bottles are stocked in Harrods, Planet Organic, Sources Market and a number of independent shops throughout London.
What they say
“A delicious dose of goodness for your gut, brewed with only natural ingredients, low in sugar and packed full of beneficial bacteria, naturally occurring vitamins, enzymes and amino acids. It’s perfect for anytime of day and is a great substitute for sugary soft drinks, pasteurised fruit juice or alcohol. We brew our raw kombucha using just four ingredients: filtered water, organic loose-leaf tea sourced directly from two single estates, organic cane sugar, and a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). Last year we opened Europe’s first kombucha taproom, allowing people to try our three flavours – Original, Ginger, and Passion Fruit – fresh from the kegs.”
What we say
“JARR Kombucha tastes like a slightly sour fizzy tea, which may sound strange but its tart edge is refreshing compared to other sugary sparkling drink alternatives. As well as the original flavour, JARR comes in ginger and passion fruit, which give the fermented tea an added kick and subtle sweetness. Served up in beautifully designed bottles and packed with goodness, it looks and feels like a little present for your gut.”
