We love bagging a bargain as much as the next (wo)man – hell yes we do. And at the Motherland Store we rather like offering our customers discounts, too. They’re good for buyers, good for business… and that’s why we’ll be offering them at various points throughout the year. But the recent, frenzied arrival of Black Friday in Britain is, for want of a better word, bullshit. We toyed with the idea of offering a discount because we felt we had to in order to compete. But then we figured that if Black Friday represents something we don’t agree with, then we shouldn’t mark it. Instead, from now until Christmas, if you do fancy purchasing something in our shop, we’ll give £2 from every sale to the wonderful people at Richard House Children’s Hospice: an often overlooked charity which cares for and offer positive experiences to terminally ill children and their families, in London. For more info on Richard House, visit richardhouse.org.uk
