When Parisian sculpture, set designer, model maker and mother extraordinaire Chloé Leguay moved to San Francisco she was inspired by the colorful, iconic city. With her background in crafting and creating, she sought to make something for her kids, with the city in mind.
The result was the *iA Playhouse, a genius geometric contraption that can be shaped into everything from a teepee, to a rocket, to a boat. Handcrafted in her living room, the structure is made from natural materials, and in patchwork colours inspired by the brightly coloured houses that line the hilly streets of San Francisco.
Light, flexible and sturdy the playhouse would be just as at home as a fixture of the living room, as it would be folded up and taken to the park (or beach). It takes kids’ design to the next level and we can confidently say it is as practical as it is beautiful. By expanding, folding, collapsing and configuring the structure it into whatever shape they like, it becomes a prop to their own imagination. It’s a brilliantly clever toy, but it is also really a work of art.
